Bob Beaty was the first football coach at Chatfield Senior High. He served as the Head Coach from 1985 until 1995. During his eleven years at the helm, he led the Chargers to the playoffs several times, including a trip to the quarterfinals in 1994. Coach Beaty established a program that emphasized character and sportsmanship as well as success. He had a positive impact on the players, the program, and the school. Coach Beaty was known around Jefferson County as innovative and daring as well as always having a fundamentally sound team. He exemplified the qualities that we currently value, making him the logical namesake for our Chatfield Football Hall of Fame.
Before starting the Chatfield program, Bob Beaty served as the head coach at Evergreen High. Previously, he had coached at Columbine and in Oklahoma. Bob was an avid golfer who took over as Chatfield’s boys’ and girls’ golf coach after giving up football. Coach Beaty passed away in 2008.
At the banquet that evening, we’re planning to honor the past player that embodies the values that Coach McGatlin is teaching here at Chatfield. Coach McGatlin and Coach Keith Mead will make a few remarks about the program and we’ll have a short acceptance speech by this honored guest.
The winner of the Hall of Fame will be profiled each year with a picture and biography of their past and current accomplishments on the field, in the community, and business.
This should be a great day of golf and a wonderful evening. We’re expecting a great turn-out and a lot of festivities for the kids as well as the adults.
